Sand Canyon Ranch Owned By G.H. Palmer Associates 11740 San Vicente Blvd, Suite 208 Los Angeles, CA 90049 Contact: Kirsten Surprenant AND Geoff Palmer, Owner
The apartment is substantially misrepresented by a model units and good sales.
Discrimination in False Advertising 2 months free rent based on discrimination of source of income and disability.
Fair Housing Act of 1968, as amended, prohibits discrimination on the basis source of income, and the Americans with Disabilities Act makes it illegal to discriminate against the disabled. Denied two months free rent + terms+ preference of apartment.
the initial advertisement in the daily news whereas I was to get two months credit of rent on my account, which I was told I would get on the phone when I called to inquire about the apartment in the advertisement, I was told the only restriction is I can not be a current tenant or any of their other building which I have never lived in any of there buildings prior.
(I kept the original advertisement) and brought it with me to my appointment. I was also told in person when I arrived I would get two months free but denied at last minute for source of income-disability. Finished all the paperwork I told I might not receive advertised special because that offer may not apply to people on disability receiving HUD assistance only regular working tenants that are not on this program. (Which I thought was weird and Azul said she would consult with corporate to find out 4 sure) the property manger and assistant also admitted to me and asked for a separate side payment stating to me that all the other HUD assisted tenants paid a side payment due to HUD did not pay them enough money.
This is an outrage that they would take advantage of the poor and unjustly inrich themself charger highter rent rates and giving lower grade units to the poor and disabled.
Also there is an issue at this building because they show you a model unit and you are never allowed to see the actual unit your moving in.
The maintenance is horrible. it takes several complaints over and over and over again before getting attention then repairs takes weeks, months and years.
I had non-working air condition for one year,it took actually nearly an entire year of me complaining then damanding an outside contractor it was fixed.
I had a roof leak for two months were it rained in my living room about 6-7 times in that two month spand.
The carpet was wet and molded and I was forced to pay out of pocket to replace it because the mangaer said the owner is cheap and only cares about receiving his rent not hearing complaints that costs him money.
That pretty unfair.
I also had a slow leak from a crack in bathroom for two years that continued to get worse and was just fixed after two years.
I can say there is only so much a person can take now I got sick and tired of being sick and tired of this place and I wanted to defend myself so I filed a lawsuit.
I hope this review is helpful to people, it's my true story.
