Beware -- Scam alert! I received a call from someone who said she was calling on behalf of Peak Communications and AT&T (a lie). She said that AT&T was now contracting with Peak Communications in order to offer a huge savings on long distance service (another lie). With a promise to lower my bill by as much as 50%, it did get my interest. All she needed was for me to verify my home address, which she already had because my phone number is listed, and my DOB. I told her I was confused as to why Peak Communications (and not AT&T) would be calling me, since my current long distance plan was with AT&T -- after all, why would AT&T give them my information. She indicated that they were partnered with AT&T (yet another lie) and that I would still be getting my bills from AT&T -- all she had to do to activate my new lower long distance plan was to transfer me to her supervisor who would verify my information and ask for my DOB (NEVER give your DOB to anyone over the phone unless you called them and know they are legit). That's when I hung up and checked the internet for complaints against Peak Communications. I then called AT&T and put a switch protection on my account so that no one would be able to switch my AT&T plans unless I called AT&T and personally authorized the switch. Anyone who's been contacted by Peak Communications should immediately call your phone carrier and ask for this same protection. That way no company can hi-jack your phone service. Hope this is helpful.
