I started receiving unsolicited emails, phone calls and text messages from creditreport.com. Their emails provide no way to unsubscribe or opt-out, so I sent a reply to support@creditreport.com. Their answer was to call customer service (866-883-3309) to make a change to my account. I explained that I have no account with them, have never done any business with them, and again ask that my email address be removed from their list. Once again, their response is to call them. So I called.
The rep on the phone asked for my social security number to verify my account. I explained that I have no account and was given the number to stop receiving emails. He argued that I must have an account and needed my social security number to look it up.
I asked yet again what it would take to stop receiving their emails and he said he needed to get into my account to do that. They provide no easy way to unsubscribe from their emails and ask for private personal information which is a violation of the CAN-SPAM act. I've also filed a complaint through the BBB and the FTC.
I just really hope that other people don't call and give out their social security number to whoever answers the phone!
But from reading other reviews, if they make it impossible to cancel their service, I'm sure they make it impossible to stop receiving their spam.
