Review 10/22/2011
The exact same thing happened to me as the report I read about these people. They (DHWA) called me October 21, 2011, said I owed for freezer bags from Dec. 2009, and that the bill was about to be turned over for collection and ruin my credit. I remembered nothing about this, but had had some interactions with a similar company or maybe the same company years ago, and I thought I may have forgotten. They said the worker assigned to my account had recently had a stroke and had been unable to call and warn me of the accumulating late fees recently(!). They were very sorry about this and as a courtesy were calling me, and if I could take care of this right now, they would forgive the $100(!) of late fees that had accrued. They said they had records I had indeed agreed to buy a box of freezer bags, and they had records the bags had been sent. I complained about not being informed of any pending payment due, and they said they only contacted customers by phone, not mail. I said I had not had phone calls, and they said, "Do you work during the day?" Naturally I do. "Well, we want to apologize about that, too, since your caller probably called you while you were at work. We have records that she called three times." (before getting incapacitated with the stroke presumably!) I told them I had an answering machine, and they said the callers were not allowed to leave messages. I finally, in a state of shock, desparation, extreme anger, and fatigue, gave the individual my credit card to make this bad debt go away. I had never been scammed before and did not know what else to do. They charged me $125 for the freezer bags, if you can believe this stuff. I hung up finally after being reamed, and thought it seemed too wierd to be true and called my credit card company. My credit card co. is mailing me a dispute form and cancelled my card. The charge was there. I think it was a very expensive lesson. I do not have any extra money these days and feel like a complete fool for allowing these crooks, which is exactly what I believe these people are, to get away with it. They should be closed down and not allowed to rip off any other poor, gullible, kind-hearted people out there. They are evil.
