In October 2009 I began repairing my mother's home in Victorville. In her declining years its maintenance had been badly neglected. There were large cracks throughout the dining room and kitchen slab, which also had shifted so that it was quite uneven. Also it was covered with old asbestos-containing tiles, many of which were coming loose. I requested quotes from three flooring companies in the local area, and I was most impressed with the no-nonsense approach that I received from John Westfall, and his wife, Heather, co-owners of Desert Flooring. Since we were on an extremely tight budget, and the flooring was just one of the many items needing attention, John worked with me to help cut expenses by preparing the slab floor and showing us how to lay a new kind of flooring, called Konecto, that was forgiving of uneven floors. With the money we saved by laying that floor by ourselves, we were able to accept Desert Flooring's competitive bid for carpeting the rest of the house. Desert Flooring was very accommodating to our schedule, and throughout the process John gave helpful hints on where to get the equipment we needed, and little "tricks of the trade." Since my partner and I were both residents of Ventura, some 150 miles away, we were at a disadvantage in knowing what other local firms could help us with our home rehabilitation. Both John and Heather were very helpful in connecting us "out-of-towners" with other local businesses that could help us with our project. Desert Flooring helped make an extraordinarily difficult job a lot easier and more pleasant.
