unable to communicate clearly

As a former employer, I was contacted by an agent of this company to provide employment verification for an individual. The message left for me to return a call was difficult to understand. I could not understand the extension of the agent who called me; a ten digit number plus a seven digit extension said too quickly and in a thick Indian accent. I tried contacting the company line, but the person who answered the phone struggled with the spelling of the former employee's name. He finally found them in their system and attempted to transfer me to the agent handling their client's account, whereupon I was disconnected. No doubt they will tell their client that they were unable to verify previous employment which is a shame since the client will miss out on an excellent prospect. Whatever the client is paying for this service it is a waste of money.
